What happened

An unauthenticated network attacker can exploit an RMI-accessible flaw in the Cloud native deployment component of Oracle Communications BRM - Elastic Charging Engine, leading to full compromise of the product (CVSS 9.8).

Why it is dangerous: Full takeover of a telecom charging system exposes billing and subscriber data and can disrupt service for customers. Operators running affected versions with RMI reachable from untrusted networks are at risk.

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run Oracle Communications BRM - Elastic Charging Engine 15.0.0.0.0, 15.0.1.0.0, 15.1.0.0.0 or 15.2.0.0.0 with the Cloud native deployment component and RMI reachable over the network.

Oracle Communications BRM - Elastic Charging Engine 15.0.0.0.0, 15.0.1.0.0, 15.1.0.0.0, 15.2.0.0.0 (Cloud native deployment component)

What to do

  1. Restrict network access to RMI ports so only trusted hosts can reach them
  2. Check Oracle's Critical Patch Update advisory or vendor support for a fixed version and apply it
  3. Monitor the affected systems for unusual RMI connections or unexpected changes
