CriticalVulnerabilityCVE-2026-110243updated 25 Oct 2026, 17:05 UTC

Kiloview E3 NDI encoder lets logged-in users run commands as root

A user who can log into the encoder's web settings can slip extra commands into a network setting. Those commands then run with full control of the device.

How the attack works simplified

  1. 1Authenticated userHas network-settings permission on the web UI
  2. 2Crafted interface nameMalicious value sent to the link address endpoint
  3. 3Unvalidated shell commandInterface name is passed to a shell without checks
  4. 4Code runs as rootInjected commands execute with full privileges
  5. ResultAttacker gains root control of the encoder

What happened

The network management service on Kiloview E3 NDI encoder firmware does not validate the network interface name passed to its link maintenance address endpoint before using it in a shell command, unlike sibling handlers that do validate it. This is an OS command injection flaw.

Why it is dangerous: An attacker with network-settings access can run arbitrary commands as root, fully taking over the encoder and any video streams or network segment it touches. The severity is critical (CVSS 9.4).

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run Kiloview E3 NDI encoder firmware with web users who have permission to configure network settings.

What to do

  1. Check the Kiloview E3 vendor site or support for a firmware update that fixes this issue and install it
  2. Limit web access to the encoder's management interface to trusted staff and networks
  3. Remove network-configuration permissions from any user accounts that do not strictly need them
  4. Monitor the device for unexpected configuration changes or processes until patched
