CriticalVulnerabilityCVE-2026-111594updated 25 Oct 2026, 17:05 UTC
InterSystems IRIS for Health sends data without encryption by default
By default, data sent to and from this health-data platform is not encrypted. Someone on the same network path could read it and potentially reuse login details to get into the system.

How the attack works simplified
- 1Traffic crosses networkData sent without encryption by default
- 2Attacker observes trafficCaptures transmitted data on the path
- 3Credentials reusedCaptured data used to log in
- 4Device accessedAttacker logs into the IRIS system
- ResultAttacker logs into the health data system
What happened
TLS/SSL encryption is disabled by default in InterSystems IRIS for Health, so transmitted data can be intercepted and used for authentication.
Why it is dangerous: Attackers who can observe network traffic could capture sensitive health records and credentials, enabling unauthorized access to the device.
Are you affected?
You are affected if you run InterSystems IRIS for Health with its default configuration, which leaves TLS/SSL turned off.

What to do
- Check whether TLS/SSL is enabled in your IRIS for Health configuration and turn it on if it is not
- Review the GitHub advisory GHSA-qg7q-rhjp-mfxj and the vendor's guidance for the fixed version or mitigation
- Restrict network access to the IRIS for Health server so only trusted systems can reach it until encryption is enabled
