What happened

EPICS Base release 7.0.10 and earlier contain integer overflow flaws in network request and protocol message length handling, leading to incorrect memory allocation and out-of-bounds memory writes. The NVD entry lists CVE-2026-114596 and related CVEs in the same family.

Why it is dangerous: Successful attacks can cause denial of service, memory corruption, information disclosure, or remote code execution on systems running EPICS-based controls, which are used in critical manufacturing and research facilities worldwide.

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run EPICS Base release 7.0.10 or earlier on a control system or network-facing IOC or server.
