CriticalVulnerabilityCVE-2026-120209updated 31 Oct 2026, 18:33 UTC

AJ-Report signs share links with a secret built into the code, allowing remote code execution

Anyone who knows a secret password hard-coded in the software can forge access passes and then run their own commands on the server without logging in. Attackers can take over the server.

How the attack works simplified

  1. 1Attacker forges tokenSigns token offline using hard-coded secret
  2. 2Forged share tokenreportCode set to 'dataSet'
  3. 3testTransform endpointAccepts the request without real login
  4. 4Script runs via GroovyGroovyClassLoader executes attacker code
  5. ResultAttacker controls the server

What happened

AJ-Report through 1.7.1 signs share tokens with a hard-coded JWT secret; forged tokens with reportCode 'dataSet' reach the testTransform endpoint, which passes scripts to GroovyClassLoader, enabling unauthenticated remote code execution.

Why it is dangerous: Successful exploitation lets an unauthenticated attacker execute code on the server, exposing or altering its data and systems. Any internet-reachable AJ-Report instance is at risk.

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run AJ-Report version 1.7.1 or earlier.

AJ-Report through 1.7.1

What to do

  1. Check whether you run AJ-Report 1.7.1 or earlier and restrict network access to it now
  2. Watch for an official AJ-Report release or advisory that fixes the hard-coded secret and update when available
  3. Review server logs for unexpected testTransform requests or unknown share tokens
