What happened
Muzicon (version 1.15 and earlier) has an unauthenticated PHP object injection flaw, where untrusted input is unsafely deserialized, which can lead to remote code execution.
Why it is dangerous: Successful exploitation could let an attacker take over the website, read or change its data, or install malware, with no login required. Site owners and visitors who rely on the site are at risk.
Are you affected?
You are affected if you run the Muzicon theme at version 1.15 or earlier.
Muzicon <= 1.15
What to do
- Check whether your site uses the Muzicon theme and what version is installed
- Update Muzicon to a fixed version as soon as the vendor releases one; check the GitHub advisory for updates
- If no fix is available, deactivate the Muzicon theme or restrict access to the site until a fix exists
- Review the site for signs of compromise, such as unknown admin accounts or unexpected files
