Letta server accepts requests with no login and exposes its database
The Letta server ships with a setup file that turns off its password check, so anyone who can reach it over the network can run code on it and read or change its database. A database port is also open with a known default password.

What happened
Letta through 0.16.8 ships a compose.yaml that leaves LETTA_SERVER_SECURE unset, so the password middleware is never added and all API routes are unauthenticated; it also exposes a superuser PostgreSQL port with default credentials.
Are you affected?
You are affected if you run Letta through 0.16.8 using its provided compose.yaml without setting LETTA_SERVER_SECURE, especially if the server or its PostgreSQL port is reachable from a network.
Letta through 0.16.8 (compose.yaml configuration)
What to do
- Set LETTA_SERVER_SECURE to enable the password check in your compose.yaml
- Change the default PostgreSQL superuser credentials and stop exposing the database port
- Block public network access to the Letta server and database until fixed
- Check the GitHub advisory GHSA-g524-hhf9-5x95 for an updated version
