What happened

The web-based management interface of AOS is affected by an SQL injection flaw that can be triggered by an unauthenticated remote attacker. Successful exploitation could allow execution of arbitrary operating system commands.

Why it is dangerous: An attacker could take full control of the AOS instance and its underlying system without any credentials. Any organization exposing the AOS management interface is at risk.

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run AOS with its web-based management interface reachable over the network.

AOS instances with the web-based management interface enabled (exact versions unknown)

What to do

  1. Restrict access to the AOS web management interface so it is not reachable from the internet
  2. Check the vendor advisory for a patched AOS version and update as soon as one is available
  3. Review AOS logs for unusual database errors or unexpected commands
