CriticalVulnerabilityCVE-2026-79865updated 25 Oct 2026, 16:50 UTC
AOS-10 network devices can be taken over by nearby unauthenticated attackers
A flaw in AOS-10 (network equipment software) lets someone on the nearby network take control of the device without logging in. The attacker could then run their own commands with the highest level of access on the device.

How the attack works simplified
- 1Nearby attackerOn the same adjacent network segment
- 2Crafted inputSent to the vulnerable AOS-10 interface
- 3Memory corruptionOverflow lets attacker inject code
- 4Privileged code runsCode executes as privileged OS user
- ResultAttacker controls the device OS
What happened
A memory corruption vulnerability in an affected interface of AOS-10 allows an unauthenticated adjacent attacker to achieve remote code execution as a privileged user on the underlying operating system.
Why it is dangerous: An attacker who can reach the device on the adjacent network needs no credentials, and can gain full control of the underlying OS, which could expose or disrupt the network the device serves.
Are you affected?
You are affected if you run AOS-10 with the affected interface exposed to adjacent networks.
What to do
- Check the official Aruba/HPE advisory for the list of affected AOS-10 versions and the fixed release
- Update AOS-10 to a fixed version as soon as it is available
- Limit access to the affected interface to trusted networks until patched
