What happened

Missing authentication for a critical function in HiRDB Server versions 9 and 10, including the 9(32) and 'with Additional Function' editions. The flaw is rated critical (CVSS 9.8).

Why it is dangerous: Attackers reaching the database over the network could potentially perform privileged operations without credentials, risking data theft, tampering, or service disruption. Organizations running affected HiRDB servers are at risk.

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run HiRDB Server Version 10 from 10-00 before 10-12-01, or HiRDB Server Version 9 (including the 9(32) and 'with Additional Function' editions) in the version ranges listed.

HiRDB Server Version 10: 10-00 before 10-12-01; HiRDB Server Version 9: 09-00 through 09-66-22; HiRDB Server with Additional Function Version 9: 09-00 through 09-66/V; HiRDB Server Version 9(32): 09-02 through 09-66-22; HiRDB Server with Additional Function Version 9(32): 09-00 through 09-66-/V

What to do

  1. Identify all HiRDB Server instances and confirm their exact versions
  2. Upgrade HiRDB Server Version 10 to 10-12-01 or later, and check the vendor advisory for fixed Version 9 releases
  3. Restrict network access to HiRDB server ports to trusted hosts only until patched
  4. Review database logs for unexpected administrative or function calls
