What happened

A flaw in the Analytics Web Administration component of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition lets a privileged user reach the product over HTTP and fully compromise it, with a scope change affecting other products.

Why it is dangerous: Successful exploitation gives full takeover of the BI server, exposing confidential data and allowing changes or disruption, and may affect other connected systems. Organizations that expose BI admin interfaces are most at risk.

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0 or 26.01.0.0.0 with the Analytics Web Administration component reachable over the network.

Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition: 8.2.0.0.0, 12.2.1.4.0, 26.01.0.0.0

What to do

  1. Check whether your Oracle Business Intelligence version is one of the affected versions listed above
  2. Apply the security update from Oracle's Critical Patch Update for this issue as soon as it is available for your version
  3. Restrict network access to the Analytics Web Administration interface to trusted administrators only
  4. Review administrator accounts and remove any unneeded high-privilege access
