What happened

Improper neutralization of special elements in a template engine in Drupal Webform allows code injection. Affected versions are 0.0.0 through 6.2.12 and 6.3.0 through 6.3.1.

Why it is dangerous: Successful code injection can let an attacker take control of the affected website and its data. Any site running an affected Drupal Webform installation is at risk.

Are you affected?

You are affected if you run the Drupal Webform module in version 6.2.12 or earlier, or in version 6.3.0 or 6.3.1.

Drupal Webform module: 0.0.0 to 6.2.12; 6.3.0 to 6.3.1

What to do

  1. Check which version of the Webform module your Drupal site runs
  2. Update the Webform module to a fixed release as soon as one is available from the Drupal project
  3. Until patched, restrict access to form template editing to trusted administrators
