Linux kernel: several flaws allow crashes and possibly root access
Attackers who can reach or run code on a Linux machine may crash it or, in some cases, gain full control. Updating the kernel closes these holes.

What happened
Multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel (including a Bluetooth component) allow denial-of-service and, in some reports, unspecified effects such as memory corruption or privilege escalation to root.
Why it is dangerous: Crashed servers and workstations cause downtime, and where root escalation is possible, a local user or attacker could take over the system; anyone running unpatched kernels is at risk.
Are you affected?
You are affected if you run a Linux system with an unpatched kernel, including the Bluetooth subsystem.
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified in the material).
What to do
- Check your current kernel version with 'uname -r'
- Install the latest kernel updates from your Linux distribution
- Reboot the system to load the patched kernel
- Check the CERT-Bund/BSI advisories for the exact fixed versions
